Interactive Virtual Concert
Producing immersive virtual concerts in XR and VR, for live streaming and video on demand: YOOM enlisted Galvanized to help legendary DJ Paul Oakenfold celebrate 30 years of chart-topping music with an interactive, volumetric virtual concert — accompanied by a dynamic pay-per-view concert film that reached fans in more than 100 countries.
The Project
The Brief
YOOM.com enlisted Galvanized to help legendary DJ Paul Oakenfold celebrate 30 years of producing chart-topping music for fans worldwide. The objective was to create an interactive, immersive virtual concert that would showcase his musical brilliance and be accompanied by a dynamic pay-per-view concert film. The primary challenge was to seamlessly incorporate cutting-edge volumetric capture technology during an Oakenfold performance, creating a lifelike digital avatar of him spinning some of his most celebrated tracks — blending the excitement of a live performance with the latest advances in virtual and augmented reality technology.
The Experience
Oakenfold launched a three-song interactive WebGL experience built on advanced volumetric video techniques, letting fans navigate and manipulate a virtual landscape for a uniquely personalized encounter with the DJ's digital avatar — an immersive concert format built for both real-time exploration and on-demand replay.
The Results
The integration of volumetric 3D technology and interactive features established new benchmarks for digital performances, attracting high engagement and glowing reviews. The collaboration between YOOM and Galvanized underscored the impact of volumetric capture and XR/VR production on the music industry — proof that a live concert experience can be rebuilt as an interactive virtual concert and distributed as an on-demand, pay-per-view release.
How It Was Built
From Volumetric Capture to Virtual Concert
Four stages turn a live DJ set into an immersive virtual concert fans can explore, stream, or watch on demand.
Stage 1 of 4 — Capture: volumetric rigs record every angle of the performance.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
A virtual immersive concert rebuilds a live performance as an interactive, three-dimensional experience that fans navigate in a browser or headset rather than watch as flat video. For Paul Oakenfold's 30-year celebration, Galvanized and YOOM built a three-song interactive WebGL concert using volumetric capture, letting fans explore a virtual environment around a lifelike digital avatar of the artist.
Volumetric capture records a performer from many angles at once to reconstruct them as a moving three-dimensional digital double, instead of a flat video image. On the Paul Oakenfold project this produced a lifelike avatar of the DJ performing inside an interactive WebGL environment — the same volumetric approach Galvanized used to bring 16 artists to life for the SoundWaves virtual festival at SXSW.
Yes. Galvanized produces immersive music experiences for real-time live streaming and for on-demand release. Paul Oakenfold's interactive virtual concert shipped alongside a companion pay-per-view concert film, SoundWaves streamed live to global audiences during SXSW, and Galvanized partner AIRCAST delivers ultra-low-latency live streaming for events including the FIFA Women's World Cup.
YOOM.com enlisted Galvanized, a global brand and innovation agency with studios in Los Angeles, Sydney, and London, to help Paul Oakenfold mark 30 years of his career with an interactive virtual concert and companion pay-per-view concert film — an experience acclaimed by audiences in more than 100 countries.
Galvanized's immersive music work also includes SoundWaves, a volumetric metaverse music festival at SXSW, and Stranger Things: The Experience, an immersive location-based attraction built with Liminal Space's spatial LED technology — spanning XR/VR concert production, volumetric capture, and live event streaming for artists and platforms worldwide.
