The challenge was unprecedented: how do you capture the raw, visceral energy of SXSW and deliver it to a remote, global audience? We needed to architect a digital concert experience that didn't just broadcast music, but actively immersed fans in a highly engaging, multi-platform virtual festival environment.
Enter SoundWaves. In collaboration with YOOM, we produced a massive online music festival premiering twelve emerging artists directly at SXSW. By leveraging advanced volumetric capture technology and custom web streaming, we rendered artists from ten different countries as dynamic 3D characters performing inside bespoke, interactive WebGL environments on the DreamWave platform.

SoundWaves secured the prestigious “XR Experience Special Event” award at SXSW 2023, captivating viewers with an immersive XR experience that seamlessly crossed physical borders.
